Signs of life

Hallelujah. I'm on the air.

For now.

I'm in Louisiana, where life, for a city-slicker like me, seems to move in slow motion. Aside from activity at the nearby university, people don't seem to do much here aside from eat lots of greasy, deep-fried food, talk to and about kinfolk, watch the Weather Channel and turn in at the late hour of 10 p.m.

But as it turns out, the in-laws have wireless Internet this year. OK, that's not entirely true. More accurately, a neighbor who must not have password-protected his wireless network must have it, because I'm online here. Intermittently, anyway. I can see several networks in my connection settings, some of which are password-protected. But every few minutes or so, one pops up in the list to which I can connect.

There is a God. But why does he like to tease?

Current mood: Grateful
