'After reading this I don't think that I've ever felt so ashamed of being male'

The men who sleep with prostitutes

"Prostitution should be legalised so that women have rights like other workers. Then there will be no shame in it, and people who want sex can find people who are comfortable selling it. Our society is still plagued by outdated ideas that sex is in some way dirty and wrong, and the criminalisation of prostitution strengthens this mentality.

I'm personally generally opposed to the criminalization of any consensual interaction between adults as long as it isn't fraudulent and doesn't result in intentional physical, financial or some other damage to one or more of the parties involved.

Many comments to this article are frighteningly naive. Trafficing humans for any purpose is sickening but will happen in destitute countries and in criminal organizations, if money can be made. Legal organizations allow for regulations and oversight. Prohibition of drugs has not stopped the flow of drugs, it has created millions of criminals. The same happens with prostitution.

People don't necessarily need nor want lasting relationships at certain times in their lives (or maybe ever). In my opinion, sex for trade should be considered no different than buying a good meal at a nice restaurant. Except the servers and cooks are likely making less money than a prostitute. But everyone involved: _legal_ prostitutes, their clients, cooks, and servers, they all make the choice. While I can stand up with servers to complain about salaries or tipping requirements, prostitutes have no viable support when its illegal.

Simply rule. Criminalization creates criminals.

Women should have the right to choose how they use their body. And if they want to sell it to men, so be it.

The most galling part of the story to me was the "punter's" disrespect for his spouse/girlfriend. The cheating. I agree that consenting men and women should be able to do what they want (given that no one is harmed or robbed). But if a man wants to play around, he shouldn't get married or have a girl/boyfriend.
