The
Head of the Chattahoochee is my rowing club's biggest event of the year. I just got back from Chattanooga last weekend. My boat typically does well, but this year was an off-year for us. I'll call it a "rebuilding year." The novice group -- rowing nomenclature for those who have less than a year's experience, in which they also can compete in a separate category so they don't have to race against people who have rowed for years -- made a terrific showing, however. There's hope for us yet. They're extremely fit and were working out upwards of six days a week leading up to the regatta. With the way they're going, I won't be surprised if they become the "A" boat and mine the "B."
Anyway, the weather up there was crisp and chilly -- just the way I like it. Which begs the question: Why the heck have I been in Florida for so long?
Current mood: Groggy
Current music: Reunion (video) / Erasure

Probably the same thing I've been doing ... being to lazy to move. LOL
I've wanted to live in CO or CA for years and years ... and years. It seems like it'll take rising tides to get me out at this point.
It was hard enough to get the motivation to move a few years ago, but once you buy a house -- especially one you love in a great neighborhood -- it's darn near impossible to let it go. Someday I'll work up the courage to drop everything and go.
My dream home would be somewhere between Colorado Springs and Denver. My family lived outside of Colorado Springs (Fountain, Colo., to be exact) when I was little (my dad was stationed at the Air Force base there), and I remember seeing Pikes Peak every day off to my right as I stepped outside my front door. I'll never forget that image.
Steve and I were looking at some land (no house) about a half-hour south of Breckenridge a short while ago, after I just happened to stumble upon a classified ad in one of those community fishwrappers for land for sale near the South Park area. I still haven't totally ruled it out... Even if we never built a house there, I think it would have great value as an investment.
EDS: Although... There is *some* appeal to buying a cabin the mountains of Tennessee, within driving distance of Chattanooga. I never thought I'd *EVER* want to live in Tennessee. But since I go there every year for the regatta, it would make some sense. Although it's not quite as breathtaking as Colorado, it's still pretty beautiful up there.
My friend Ryan asked me if you were at the Hooch. He rows for the Tallahassee Rowing Club. This is the same guy I looked for when Allen and I went to see you at the Sunshine State Games and couldn't find him. So, he asked, but I never got around to asking you if you were there, and oh well. No biggie.
He actually found me via your MySpace page and introduced himself there. He won his event at the Hooch!!!!!
